Installation

Prerequisite Packages

JAX

GalfitS utilizes JAX as its primary computational backend. Please follow the official JAX installation guide for your platform (CPU/GPU/CUDA/Apple): JAX Installation Guide

Other Requirements

Navigate to the GalfitS directory and install additional dependencies:

cd GalfitS
pip install -r requirement.txt

SED Templates

Download from Google Drive: GalfitS SED Templates

After download, make sure your data directory contains:

/path/to/your/data/templates

Download GalfitS

Clone the main branch of the GalfitS repository from GitHub:

git clone https://github.com/RuancunLi/GalfitS-Public

Navigate to the cloned repository:

cd GalfitS

Install the GalfitS package:

pip install -e .

Then set the template data path:

export GS_DATA_PATH=/path/to/your/data

It is recommended to add this to your shell rc file (for persistent setup):

echo 'export GS_DATA_PATH=/path/to/your/data' >> ~/.bashrc
# or ~/.zshrc

This setup will:

  • Install the GalfitS package.

  • Use the galfits command-line entry point directly.

  • Configure GS_DATA_PATH for template-dependent SED functions.
